It is with sadness that I inform you that Gary Ball passed away yesterday.
For those that did not know, he learned in August that he had inoperable brain cancer. Despite aggressive chemo and radiation treatments, he was not able to win the battle.
Funeral services will be held in Ohio at Grawmlich Funeral Home, (614-444-7854) on Sunday, Jan. 10th. He will be buried with his father in Kentucky later in the week.

Gary was a good man, a good friend and a luminary in the Government HPC marketplace. He will be missed greatly.

Gary Daniel Ball, age 47, January 8, 1999. Retired US Army Captain having served in the 101st Airborne Division. Graduate Ohio State University with Masters in Nuclear Engineering, Student Capital University Law School; Retired Sr. VP of Silicon Graphics Corp., Washington DC, was on cutting edge of computer design and architecture for past 15 years; held Ship's Masters Certificate, private pilot; avid golfer, skier, sailor and sportsman. Preceded in death by father, Woodrow. Devoted husband of Sherri of Arlington VA. Also survived by his beloved family; mother Ruby Moore Ball; sisters, Clarice (Paul) Hewitt and Deborah (Robert) Young all of Columbus; nephew, Joshua Daniel Young and other caring family of cousins and aunts.
Family will receive friends Sunday 2-4 pm. and 6-8 at GRAUMLICH & SON FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St., where service will be held Monday 10:00 a.m. Rev. John Watson officiating. Graveside Service with military honors, Monday 3pm. at Greenlawn Cemetery, Louisa Kentucky followed by interment.
